| "We focus so much on our differences, and that is creating, I think, a lot of chaos and negativity and bullying in the world. And I think if everybody focused on what we all have in common - which is - we all want to be happy." - Ellen DeGeneres | |
Hi sweethearts!
I’ve been doing some research and I realized that bullying is still a major problem in schools around the world. As a homosexual freshman boy, I know what it’s like to get teased and bullied. That’s why in this article, I'll be telling you about the 5 main ways I get through bullying!
I’ve been doing some research and I realized that bullying is still a major problem in schools around the world. As a homosexual freshman boy, I know what it’s like to get teased and bullied. That’s why in this article, I'll be telling you about the 5 main ways I get through bullying!
- Ignore the bullies: The only thing the bullies want from you is your reaction, so if you do not give them a reaction or entertain them, they will most likely give up. If possible, walk away from the bullies and find something to distract yourself. If not possible, don’t respond to any of their remarks and, again, so distract yourself.
- Surround yourself with wonderful friends: This one works the best for me. If you surround yourself with people who love you and care about you, the bullies will be outnumbered. Talk to them about things that make you happy. Side note, try to spend time with them outside of school, so you can learn more about each other!
- Take out your rage in a safe matter: There have been plenty of times where I have raged when bullies have insulted me. There are many ways to take out your rage safely, including counting to ten, taking deep breaths (this works best for me), screaming into a pillow, or doing an activity you love doing. DO NOT RESORT TO SELF HARM! It may be a good way to cope but in the long run you will end up hurting yourself majorly.
- Tell an adult: If the bullying gets really severe, tell an adult. The adult will know how to deal with the situation properly and it will save you lots of time and effort. Also, you can talk to your guidance consular about getting a schedule change out of the class.
Know it’s not your fault: It is not your fault! There is nothing wrong with you and the bullies are just messing with you because you are different. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being different, and always remember you are beautiful individual and that you are loved by someone!
Well, these are the main 5 tips I use to get rid of bullies. I hope these helped and remember, I love you guys!
Bye!
